Why Social Entrepreneurship?
Because our world is changing and because the current economic order and systems throughout the world cannot cope with the main challenges that our societies face.
We all know that we are threatened by climate change and depletion of the resources on which our human existence depends, by poverty and inequality between the nations and within the nations, by conflicts and lack of security in many regions, to list just a few of the challenges of our times.
Our governments and international organizations have declared their commitment to change the status-quo. Yet, we cannot always rely on the governments and policy-makers to change the situation for the better on our behalf. The big change will occur when many small changes are implemented locally.
Social innovation and venturing, non-profits adopting commercial strategies, social cooperative enterprises, and community entrepreneurship emerge as the new citizen sector trends of the 21st century.
SE-HUB project uses versatile youth work methods, presents good practices and develops training materials for capacity building in social entrepreneurship that come in handy for any interested person and organisation.
SE-HUB runs in Bulgaria, Greece, Mexico, Brazil, Namibia and South Africa. It provides targeted training and learning tools for young people and youth workers interested in social entrepreneurship and career in the citizen sector.
Our main outputs are:
- Capacity building activities such as training of trainers and non-traditional experiential capacity building with the involvement of disadvantaged youth (with disabilities, NEETs, etc.). In that SE-HUB will test and disseminate two novel practical training methods - peer coaching and blended learning;
- Training materials and a data-base of good practices in the field of SE and social innovation in the citizen sector, presented through OERs and a MobileApp;
- Establishment of Social Innovation Training Hubs in the project countries, connected in a SE-HUB Network;
- Local multiplier trainings.
Each of these activities are presented here and in our social media channels.
